SMS Group completes ferrous business acquisition from Metso-Die Casting Exhibition-Foundry Exhibition-The 26th China(Guangzhou) International Die casting Foundry & Industrial Furnace Exhibition

Germany-based plantmaker SMS Group has completed the acquisition of selected ferrous technologies andbusiness units from Finnish engineering and technology company Metso, strengthening its portfolio for low-emission iron and steelmaking solutions. The acquisition covers Metso Ferrous technologies located inGermany, lndia, China and Australia, and is aimed at reinforcing the plantmaker''s position as a ful-line supplierfor sustainable metallurgy.
The plantmaker stated that, through the integration oftravelling grate pelletizing, sintering and circulatingfluidized bed (CFB) calcination technologies, it hassignificantly broadened its upstream process offering.SMS Group emphasized that these processes arecritical for producing iron ore agglomerates required byboth direct reduction routes and conventionalironmaking operations.
According to the plantmaker, the integration enablescustomers to source end-to-end solutions from a singletechnology partner, covering raw material preparationthrough to finished product systems. Commenting on the acquisition, Thomas Hansmann, CTo of SMS Groupstated that the intearation of Metso''s Ferrous experts strenathens the company''s research, process know-howand service capabilities.
