It was reported that China planned to cut steel capacity by 14 million tons in Hebei Province, where was the China’s principal steel production base.
For the coming Winter Olympics 2022, China will also eliminate the steel industry in other cities nearby by Beijing. The others, including 10 million tons of coal, 1 million tons of cement, 3 million tons of carbon coke and 500,000 kW of coal-fired power supply, will be cut for its overcapacity.
In 2018 Hebei has cut steel production capacity by 12.3 million tons, 14 million tons of coal and 3.13 million tons of cement. By this way, China is following step by step to improve air pollution and push high-quality economic growth.
