It''s reported that US hot rolled coil prices still remained stable last week, the mainstream price was at US$400/ short ton from Midwest mill; cold sheet and HDG base prices were at US$550/short ton.
Market participants said that although the mainstream transaction price has not changed, there are indications that HRC prices have started to be weaken, some small steel mills began to accept lower prices. The cold roll and hot galvanized plate market basis remained strong.
However, the majority of market participants believe that mainstream prices would fall below US$400/short ton in short-term, and cold and hot galvanized plate volumes would remain stable.
