According to the report, Vale has commissioned AI mining technology company GoldSpot to apply AI and machine learning to identify new drilling targets for its Coleman nickel mine.
Vale has acquired massive amounts of data in Coleman''s decades of mining, using GoldSpot to use pattern matching to predict computer vision systems for analyzing maps and geological data. With GoldSpot deploying machine learning to near-mining, Vale was expected to minimize costs and exploration risks.
It was estimated that artificial intelligence had broad development space in the mining industry.
