Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) said on May 8 that it will urgently supply steel poles in Odisha, East India, so that equipment damaged by intense cyclonic storm Fani can be recovered as quickly as possible.
Odisha was severely devastated by Fani last week. The strong cyclonic storm hit major ports and utility poles in the area and disrupted electricity supply in most of the area. SAIL said it will mobilize resources from various distribution centers across the country to assist in the reconstruction project.
Currently, 500 parallel beam steel rods have been dispatched to the state, and additional 5,000 poles were continuously distributed to ensure that the electricity distribution company can rebuild the power infrastructure in the shortest possible time.
